Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was raised in Barcelona. Her eclectic style of music has earned her the label of "atypical pop star". [9] At the age of 13 she fell in the love of Spanish folk music and studied musicology at the Catalonia College of Music. She also performed at weddings and music bars. The album reinvented flamenco by combining it with pop music and hip-hop music. The songs "Malamente" and "Pienso En Tu Mira" were a hit among the Spanish public and garnered widespread critical acclaim. El Mal Querer, who was awarded the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year, and was included in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time, started Rosalia's rise into the international music scene. Rosalia, who explored urbano music through her 2019 releases "Con Altura" and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi", achieved global success. With her third studio album Motomami (2022), she gave reggaeton a fresh style, straying slightly from the original flamenco sound. With the singles "La Fama"" and "Saoko" and "Saoko," the album was a big success across the globe and was named the top-rated album of the year by Metacritic. Rosalia has amassed ten number-one singles throughout her career in her native country. It's the highest number for an artist hailing from the area. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including 2 Album of the Year awards) Four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been awarded to Rosalia. She also was awarded two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard presented her with the Rising Star Award, in 2019 for "changing the style of popular music with her distinctive flamenco-infused pop". 18 years ago, she was also the first singer from a Spanish group to be recognized as the Best New Artist at Grammys. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Her family has no artistic heritage She is the eldest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who has a family-owned business which specializes in metalworks. Jose Manuel Vila, her father was born in Cudillero. They separated in 2019. The actress has an older sibling, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) who is working with Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia began to be interested in performing arts as a young person in particular after she was introduced to the discography of Camaron de La Isla. Her musical education began in the Taller de Musics [es]. She completed a 6 year program in the academy. She began attending class at the Raval school, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia.
